Early Thanksgiving 2019

This year our family Thanksgiving was celebrated on Saturday evening, November 23rd

This table features china from Deruta

As usual, Ricki invited our "family of choice" to her lovely home in San Francisco, and set another one of her spectacular tables. She took photos of her masterpiece in the afternoon after she finished.

For comparison, I found a photo of my sister-in-law Ricki's exuberant 2013 Thanksgiving table

The first course--Sande's lovely salad with plums and persimmons

Sande customarily creates a colorful salad with local lettuces from the farmer's market and fresh crab but this year  crab season has been delayed, so she substituted a delicious, late variety of plum

Back to the kitchen where a special bread, still wrapped in paper and string, is warming

The turkey was decorated with thyme, and I seasoned green and yellow Romano beans with sautéed almonds and fresh herbs.

I snapped some photos in the evening when we were ready to light the candles and call the
             guests in to dinner

And ecologically speaking, this was a zero waste table. We can eat the centerpiece
with the leftovers. It's all organic!
